KATHERINE AMELIA "KATY" BARR was born in 1962 to Robert Lee Barr Jr. and Margaret "Marge" Teresa Ferris-Barr, the same year as Trace Adkins, Clint Black, Axl Rose, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Jon Bon Jovi, Al Unser, Jr., Emilio Estevez, C.C. Deville, Bo Jackson, Evander Holyfield, Doug Flutie, and Mike Tomczak. The month she was born, the U.S. spacecraft "Mariner 2" flew by Venus, becoming the first probe to successfully transmit data from another planet, and Cuba relead the last 1,113 participants in the Bay of Pigs Invasion to the U.S.

Katy grew up in Kansas City with her family, as the youngest of seven children. She married Mark Wirtz in August of 1985, and the two have three children.
