In 1943, Robert joined the U.S. Navy, where he became a pilot. In the Navy, he was trained on various aircraft including the SNF and the SB2C and to land planes on an aircraft carrier. After WWII, Bob and Marge settled in Kansas City, where they raised a very close family of seven children, (four sons and three daughters). After working for Sears, Bob enjoyed a career as an owner operator of BARR'S Standard Service Stations, and founded BRB Transmission. Bob was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was a 4th degree Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his family and friends, and working on charity functions, many that Marge was actively involved in. Bob loved to fish and hunt. As an expert on mushrooms, he loved hunting Morel mushrooms and would take his family to his favorite hunting places. These were special outings that often included camping trips with Bob's brothers, nephews and nieces, all of which loved their Uncle Bob and Aunt Marge. Bob was master of cooking potatoes on these trips for the rest of his family. Margaret Teresa Ferris-Barr would pass September 4th, 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri, and Robert Lee Barr, Jr, died on February 29th, 2008.
