Ellis Crompton was born in 1784 Lancashire, England, to James and Margaret Crompton. (The research of 16th-generation Chris Crompton tells us Ellis was born Christmas day, 1784). He was baptized at Deane Church. George III was Monarch of the United Kingdom at the time.

He married Ann Longworth in 1808 Lancashire, England, also at Deane Church. Napolean was joining his army in Spain at the time. Russia and the Swedes were at war. In the United States, James Madison defeats Charles C. Pinckney in the presidential election that year.

While we do not know what trades Ellis and Ann pursued, we do know the two had at least two children, both sons.

Pictured here is a photo of the Ellis Crompton grave. He died on the 25th of February 1851. He is buried at Deane Church according to Church Monumental Records.
